Dogs and cats are very good at hiding pain and early signs of illness. A wellness exam lets the vet spot heart, dental, skin, digestive or weight problems early — while treatment is still simple and affordable. We recommend a check-up at least once a year, and every six months for senior pets.
When should you come in?
- A new pet that needs a first health check
- Poor appetite or unexplained weight loss
- Less active or sleeping more than usual
- Hair loss, itching or red patches on the skin
- Senior pets (7 years and older)

Frequently asked questions
How often should my pet have a check-up?
Healthy adult pets should be seen at least once a year. Puppies, kittens and pets over 7 should be seen every six months.
Should my pet fast before the exam?
A normal exam does not require fasting. If blood work may be needed, we will tell you to fast your pet for about 8 hours when you book.
